Customer Success Story: TKNL

By: Pierre Yves-Lambert of TKNL

TKNL, formerly known as Techni-Logique and currently based in Montreal, launched IntelliEvent Express in April 1999 as one of IntelliEvent’s first customers in Quebec. Since its inception, TKNL has grown significantly and has continued to utilize Express before transitioning to Lightning in January 2021. Pierre Yves-Lambert has been vital in the implementation of the Lightning product and continues to help his team enhance their skills with the program.

What made you decide to switch to Lightning?

We’ve actually been using IntelliEvent Express Ver. 7 for many years now. It handles all the inventory and labor for our Events department. We’re talking more than 2000 events per year, 4000+ items in the warehouse, hundreds of sub-rental and purchases every year. So when Lightning came out with all the new features, it was a natural choice for us, especially because it was easy to transfer our data from the old platform to the new. We went live with Lightning in January 2021, but it took us about a year to slowly clean, transfer, and configure it according to our needs. Most of it came in place in the last 4-5 months.

How has Lightning been valuable to your business?

With all the new features, it is very valuable and it will continue helping us.

For example:

*With the new maintenance module, we decided to barcode all our items. This provides us with a more efficient way to follow-up on the maintenance of equipment and budget, and a better follow-up on inventory. Eventually, the goal is to integrate the check-in/out options in the warehouse.

*The routing for deliveries and pickups makes the drivers’ routes clearer and more efficient to plan.

*The booking of the labor by email saves us so much time!

*Lightning was close enough to the old version that it was easy for our staff to transfer from one platform to another without too much adaptation. Very instinctive.

*Lightning is easy enough that I’ve been able to configure and set most of the features that we wanted by myself. When a change is needed (in the print template, user profile, security level, inventory management, etc.), it takes a minute to solve. And when I encountered a problem that I couldn’t solve, the support department and Mr. Andy Burnyard (our representative) were quick to answer.

*I’ve played around with it enough in the past six month (since I’ve been managing inventory and sub-rental) that my colleagues have begun calling me the Guru of Lightning! I’m responsible for our in-house training sessions.

Top reasons why other companies should switch over to Lightning.

Lightning is easy to use, instinctive, and since it’s web-based it is accessible anywhere. No need to connect remotely to a server or be on site. You can even use it on mobile browsers!

I’ve been working for TKNL since February 2020, to be more specific, 5 weeks before the Coronavirus hit all of us. Therefore, PY had just finished my training with the Intellievent platform when I had to take a work pause because of the hit the virus gave to the entire Horel industry (TKNL is the official AV supplier for the Hotel Mortagne in the outskirts of Montréal). When I finally got back to work in December, it was time to switch to the new Intellievent platform. With only 5 weeks of training on the old platform , I thought it was going to be quite a challenge to transfer my small knowledge to this new thing. With the help of PY and Andy, the transition was very smooth. What made it easy is the fact that the software is very easy to understand. Commands are friendly user and intuitive. Thanks for making my work this much easier. Marc Jutras (Account Manager at Hotel Mortagne, Boucherville, Quebec, Canada.

  • Happy to hear the transition was a smooth success!
